Play Checkers – The Classic Game of Strategy and Skill
Checkers (also known as Draughts) is a timeless two-player board game that’s simple to learn and exciting to master. Played on an 8×8 board, the goal is to capture all your opponent’s pieces or block them from making any legal moves.
Fast-paced, strategic, and satisfying—Checkers is a perfect balance of offense, defense, and tactical planning.
How to Play Checkers
The game is played on a 64-square board, but only the dark squares are used.
Each player starts with 12 pieces placed on the three rows closest to them.
Players take turns moving diagonally forward on dark squares.
The objective is to capture all of your opponent’s pieces or leave them with no legal moves.
Basic Rules:
Move: Pieces move one square diagonally forward to an empty square.
Capture: Jump diagonally over an adjacent opponent’s piece to land in an empty square—and remove that piece.
Multiple Jumps: If you can jump again after a capture, you must continue.
King Me: When a piece reaches the opponent’s back row, it becomes a King—which can move and capture both forward and backward.
Tips & Tricks to Master Checkers
🔁 Control the Center
Try to occupy and control the center of the board. It gives you more movement options and tactical advantages.
🛡 Don’t Rush Kings
While Kings are powerful, don’t sacrifice too many pieces just to get them. Balance your attack and defense.
🎯 Set Up Double Jumps
Look for ways to create opportunities for multiple captures in one turn.
🔒 Protect the Back Row
Avoid moving your back-row pieces early in the game. Keeping them in place can prevent your opponent from getting kings.
🧠 Think Ahead
Before making a move, consider how your opponent can respond. Avoid moves that leave your pieces open for easy captures.
🪤 Bait and Trap
Sometimes it’s worth sacrificing a piece to lure your opponent into a position where you can strike back harder.
